Potash Hill Hosts Vermont Special Olympians

February 3, 2025

Our campus will once again become an Olympic Village in March, as the Marlboro Nordic Ski Club partners with Special Olympics Vermont (SOV) for their 2025 Winter Games. Athletes from around the state will compete on our trails in the state snowshoe and cross-country ski competition, and others will come together to live, dine, and socialize on campus while competing in alpine skiing and snowboarding events at the nearby Hermitage Club.

This is the second consecutive winter that the Winter Games have come to Potash Hill. Dozens of athletes called the campus home while competing in the 2024 SOV Winter Games, which were the first statewide games since 2019.

The alpine skiing and snowboarding portion of the 2024 Winter Games, which took place at The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain, brought together over 125 delegates, including athletes and coaches from eight programs. The delegations that competed included Addison, Central Vermont, Chittenden, Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow, Northshire, Randolph, Rutland, and Smugglers’ Notch Adaptive. Athletes competing in the games lived, dined, and socialized together on Potash Hill. The festivities culminated with a dinner and dance event on Potash Hill.

Special Olympics Vermont is part of a global movement that works year-round to foster the inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities by using the power of sport to showcase their gifts and abilities.
