2023 Marlboro Music Festival: July 15-Aug 13

June 12, 2023

Every summer on Potash Hill, Marlboro Music forms anew an international, multi-generational community, comprised of some 75 professional musicians, as well as staff members, spouses, and children. For seven decades, it has been Marlboro’s mission to mentor emerging artists, to provide nearly unlimited rehearsal time and artistic freedom, and to create a nurturing community with a joyful and loving spirit.

Musicians will arrive on campus on June 25, with concerts beginning three weeks later, on July 15. This season, 24 first-time participants will join Artistic Directors Mitsuko Uchida and Jonathan Biss, senior artists, and returning emerging artists to form one large musical family. For seven weeks, these artists, who hail from 18 countries, will live, learn, and play together, exploring and exchanging ideas on some 250 instrumental and vocal chamber music works in the stunning natural setting of Potash Hill.

Marlboro musicians share with audiences the exciting results of their in-depth collaborations during five concert weekends from July 15 through August 13. Performances take place on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons from July 15 through August 13 in Persons Auditorium, as well as on Friday, August 4 and Friday, August 11. The August 4 event is Marlboro Music’s annual Town Benefit concert in the Dining Hall, with all proceeds supporting Marlboro town organizations. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at marlboromusic.org, by phone (802-254-2394), or at the Persons Auditorium box office beginning June 19. Concert programs are announced one week prior to the performances.

Marlboro Music also offers free open rehearsals during the day in Persons Auditorium, beginning the week of July 10. Schedules are posted at the beginning of each week. Audience members may also contact the Marlboro reception desk each week for more information at 802-254-2394 or [email protected].
