Marlboro Morris Ale – Potash Hill Marlboro Morris Ale – Potash Hill

Marlboro Morris Ale

Every year since 1976, Morris dancers from all over North America, and occasionally the UK, have gathered in southern Vermont to dance, make music, and celebrate the arrival of spring and coming of summer. We are delighted to host this annual tradition — it wouldn’t be spring in Marlboro without it!

Morris Ale festivities typically take place over Memorial Day weekend and begin on Potash Hill. The teams, or ‘sides’ of dancers and musicians, then travel throughout Brattleboro, VT and Windham County as the weekend progresses. Various styles of ritual dancing are performed, including Cotswold, Border, Clog, Rapper, and Sword. Look for flying ribbons, ringing bells, flashing hankies, and crashing sticks as the performers welcome in the spring!
